Trainspotting; Irvine Welsh’s first novel, is a collection of short stories that follow the narrative of heroin addict Mark Renton, and his friends attempts to gain sobriety with numerous gruesome and tragically disastrous vignettes written in the Glaswegian vernacular. Originally published in 1993, this particular book was published for the lead-up to the release of the 1996 film of the same name, featuring Ewan McGregor as the protagonist, and Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle, Kevin McKidd and Ewen Bremner in other lead roles.
