A celebration of the new photography book, "SKINHEADS 1979 -1984" by Derek Ridgers with a discussion of skinheads, followed by a Q&A. Skinheads, the extremist corner of British youth culture with their short hair and swastikas offsetting neat clothes, made a virtue of visual and social disruption. It will be followed by a Q&A.
Derek Ridgers, who has taken pictures of everyone from James Brown to Clint Eastwood, spent five years photographing Skinheads in Britian from 1979 to 1984, documenting the controversial youth cult of the early Thatcher years. Here in his new book are some of the most striking photogenic images of skinheads.
Books will be available on the night.
