SOHO: SYLPH EDITIONS PRESENTS MAUREEN FREELY - BOOK LAUNCH AND TALK

In collaboration with Sylph Editions, the Society Club presents an evening with the acclaimed novelist and translator Maureen Freely. To mark the publication of Angry in Piraeus (part of Sylph Editions' Cahier Series), Freely will speak about the art of translating and her personal journeys in fictional worlds – both her own and those of others – and will read from her cahier. Building on this sensitive memoir, Freely will shed light on her experiences as a commuter between worlds and the importance of thinking about this contested space in our increasingly globalised world. Each publication is conceived as a marriage of word and image, exploring the powerful and beguiling ways in which the two can illuminate one another.
