SOHO: THE LOVES OF VISCOUNTESS BOUDICA

JOIN US FOR A GLASS OF WINE AS WE TOAST VICOUNTESS BOUDICA

The Society Club, Soho, is proud to host the debut show of Viscountess Boudica of Bethnal Green, a non-academic artist bound for greatness.

Already celebrated in the East End for her colourful outfits, her historic collection of domestic appliances, her devotion to seasonal festivals and her abilities as a raconteuse, the Viscountess is also a formidably talented artist. In hundreds of intricate drawings, she records the conflicts of her intimate emotional life and delights in conjuring astonishing fantasies with humour and visual flair.

Viscountess Boudica's phenomenal artwork exists at the meeting of the trajectories of Alfred Wallis and Henry Darger – possessing the playful abstract sense of Wallis in her compositions, use of colour and line – and the distinctive visionary quality of Darger, in creating her own imaginative universe peopled by magical characters of her devising."
