SOHO: POETRY NIGHTS HOSTED BY CHIP MARTIN theme TWILIGHT

Summer fades, but is not yet gone. Many have been away for so long that it becomes hard to remember the last Poetry Night, when Rod read from his fine new book on Afghanistan, The Lovers, and Leila shared an original piece set in Israel. We had Pushkin in Russian from Tatyana and Karin doing a Swedish rendition of Sylvia Plath. Charley read Rumi and Shimet from Hart Crane. Jonah recited a lyric by Leonard Cohen, ‘I’ve Taken You’, and Oliver did the same for the late Dubliners singer Luke Kelly. Nicole read Elizabeth Bishop and Evelina from Finnish. The light faded more slowly than it does now, and perhaps the best way to begin again is to take that as a new theme: TWILIGHT.
