Last week's theme was Foreigners, and most of us were. Charlotte began with Susan Sontag, and Letizia ended with Baudelaire in French, Heathcote adding a coda from Rimbaud in translation. In between we had Pushkin in Russian from Olya, and Ukrainian Alice amusing with 'Pronunciation'. Phung linked his Buddhism to 'Changes' by Kathleen Raine, and Joy offered Simon Armitage's psychological contrasts in 'The Poem'. All else was original, from newcomers Nakisha and Douglas, second-timers Hunter and Peter, veterans Oliver, Samantha, Emanuele, Angus and Chimet.
Chip is now away until the 31st, but the show goes on! With our classic poetry party formula: one poem (or poetic gesture of any kind) every 15 minutes; one rule, nothing over 5 minutes. Our beloved and wild James will host next the two weeks. The theme is to-be-announced - so watch this space.
