We are extremely honoured to welcome our old friend, musical star Lail Arad, and the esteemed Canadian singer JF Robitaille, for a residency in Soho every Saturday in April (1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th). They will fill our shop with a magical atmosphere of music and poetry, old and new, with very special guests each week - this week will be the one and only Fyfe Dangerfield of Guillemots who is emerging from the studio to sing some songs for us! Also playing is the delightful Sophie Naufal-Baker.
Arad is an acerbic, romantic, and extremely intelligent singer-songerwriter who's new album The Onion (LP released by The Vinyl Factory, lyrics book published by The Society Club) has been described by the Arts Desk as "literate acoustic fare at its best… Album of the year contender.” After much touring, opening for the likes of Television and Herman Dune, she has spent the winter hibernating in Montreal. She returns to London with a suitcase full of new songs.
JF Robitaille is one of Canada's foremost singer-songwriters. His recent albums have drawn comparisons to Leonard Cohen and Jonathan Richman. The Montreal Gazette described him as a "pop tune-smith whipping off hook-laden numbers that feature smart lyrics written from the perspective of the last romantic out there." Together, these two will make evenings to become the stuff of legend. Do not miss.
