Enlightenment as theme brought new free verse from Angus and Shubby and a sonnet from Oliver. A sonnet and roundelay about swimming came from newcomer Mark, while newcomer Nielson amused us with memory of his Scottish grandparents and returnee Lucy with reflections on what transpires on Facebook. Charley read 'Utterly Stupid', by the brother of a neighbour; Adam and Shasha looked further afield, to Wordsworth and Carol Ann Duffy. Emanuele recited the Postlude to his Sonetti, and the evening ended with Samantha's request: Louise Stern's wise meditation on silence from our most recent anthology. People still happen on Poetry Night by chance; one, finding enchantment, suggested that our theme for the new week might be SERENDIPITY. Let's try it.
