SOHO: POETRY NIGHTS hosted by CHIP - theme TBC

Serendipity was a difficult theme, but many rose to it. We had original work from all comers except Charley, who chose Emily Dickinson, and Stavrula & Tim, who did a duo of a favourite translated from Greek. Mark gave us a memory of two fathers, Gavin wondered 'Have You Ever Danced?', David stood on two stools to resuscitate old days on Seven Sisters Road. Oliver recited a new sonnet, and Barney lamented a lover who didn't make it. Geraldine read what she described as 'a silly poem about chance encounters', and Hunter offered a love poem written when he was 15. Sylvia evoked drinking in Brazil, Freddy the scene in Ibiza and Eva how the living may retrieve truth for the dead. Douglas was brilliant in his evocation of 'affordable glamour', and the evening ended with general pleasure about how we continue on. Thus a theme for the new week: ENDURANCE - or, as ever, what you will.
