THE EDGE OF THE CITY – THE WORDS AND PHOTOGRAPHS OF CHARLES PRATT

30.00

First edition, published by Robert Mann Gallery & Nazreli Press, 1998

This book was produced to accompany an exhibition of Charles Pratts photographs and writings of New York  between the years 1954-1969.

In this book we are presented a full spectrum of the New York suburbs, from the balance between old, new, rich, poor, and just about everything in between.

In the text, Pratt writes of his experiences growing up and living in the area and one gets the sense of the photographer’s deep connection to the city when looking at the photographs.

Tragically Charles didn’t live to complete the project, and was only partially published as a work in progress in a magazine during the ‘70s. This book is a culmination of the works and writings presented by editors Julie Pratt Shattuck and John Gossage.
