LEONARD COHEN – FLOWERS FOR HITLER

225.00

First UK Edition, First Printing. Jonathan Cape, 1973

The third collection of poetry by Canadian poet and composer Leonard Cohen. Flowers for Hitler was somewhat controversial in its day for its treatment of wartime themes and sexuality in the same volume. The title is taken from the poem called Folk, “flowers for hitler the summer yawned / flowers all over my new grass and here is a little village / they are painting it for a holiday / here is a little church / here is a school / here are some doggies making love / the flags are bright as laundry / flowers for hitler the summer yawned”
